User Interface versus Machine Interface

User interface versus machine interface, here we have two unique systems that don’t always seem to be complementary. The balance between the two sides is a difficult line to walk. You see, there are two very important sides and sets of requirements for any web application to function properly. Take SMS messages. This would seem like a uniquely human experience but running in parallel is a complex network parsing the data through a machine interface ready to then deliver the message back to a human in non-binary form.

Using Mobile Coupons provides another sense of dialogue between these two faces of tech. In order to market to users via an SMS platform there are several layers in which we must use a liberal approach towards users, trying to accommodate the many nuances of human dialogue and understanding while at treating the machine facing side with utmost rigor, testing every input to ensure validity while not creating a redundant or cumbersome human experience.

In our usability studies at AvidMoble, we’ve created a series of functions that can parse human understanding into machine ready standards. For example, when a human user reads the simple message text STOP2END from an SMS Mobile marketing application there’s no question as to what the message could mean. Because we’re sending that message out to users we can accommodate that need. But if we were trying to use that data to accomplish a user input field, the machine would probably not like our syntax all that well, perhaps even confusing the use of the number 2 with a desire to work out a math equation where a human automatically understands the number 2, to be equivalent to to.

That’s why; at AvidMobile we’re working hard using both server side and client side languages to ensure the broadest possible ease of use from clients while maintaining rigid balance in our collection and treatment of user data for use in our SMS Mobile Marketing applications.

Selecting SMS Aggregators

favicon 1 Selecting SMS Aggregators AvidMobile

Any beginner mobile marketers typically start their search to begin their business by looking for aggregation or SMS Aggregators.  As someone with great experience in the space I frequently have to fill these newbies in on all of the different components needed to handle a new companies SMS or mobile marketing needs.

These break down into 3 main components:

  1. A Short Code

This would be the 5 or 6 digit phone number that can be acquired from http://usshortcodes.com.  Most of the time beginning mobile marketing start-ups won’t get their own short code to begin with for a number of reasons.  Timing takes 90-120 days to provision and get set-up slowing speed to market and initial investment to set-up and provision a new short code might run from $7,000-$12,000 of total investment before the code even goes live.  There are alternatives though, as many application providers have shared short codes that are already live and can be activated for a new company within minutes for far less initial investment.  https://www.avidmobile.com/aggregators/shared-shortcodes/2.

 2.  An SMS Aggregator

Having a short code is only part of the equation, you have to have a connection to all of the carriers.  This connection comes via selecting an aggregator that already has contracts with all or most of the carriers and can connect your code.  Working directly with an SMS aggregator only works if you have an application to handle the message flow, databases, responses, etc.  This is why most people will turn to an application provider to provide the short code, SMS aggregation, and application all in one contract for service.

Some SMS aggregator’s have their own application that they will provide for additional money, thus functioning somewhat like an application provider.  That being said, most of these companies primary focus has been in sales, bandwidth, carrier contracts, and have inferior application compared with people like AvidMobile or other top application providers in the space.

An SMS aggregator contract to connect your code typically comes with significant monthly minimums that might start at $5,000 or more.  Getting great per SMS rates normally only come with volume discounts, thus providing another reason for start-ups to align themselves with application providers that already have big volumes and can pass on those volume SMS discounts to the smaller boutique mobile marketing start-ups.

3.  An Application

Having a short code and an aggregation deal is only 2/3 of the whole.  A mobile marketing company has to also have a web-based application connected to the aggregator to handle the message flow.  When someone texts a keyword to a short code, the aggregator funnels that message to a web-based application that is connected with it.  It is that third-party application that reads the keyword, and responds with the appropriate keyword response.  This application must also show reporting, handle STOP and HELP messages, and do other things to maintain CTIA compliance.

In Summary, few people realize all of the component necessary to make SMS marketing or communication really work, the costs associated, or where to begin.  Getting all of this at one low price is what AvidMobile specializes in.  Get a trial account and test out the application today here https://www.avidmobile.com/free-trial/

Short Code Marketing Reseller

Choose your short code marketing reseller wisely.

With more people using text messages as a primary means of communication it is no wonder that the use of short codes has grown immensely. Why a short code over a long code you ask? Short codes are easier to remember than long codes. In marketing you want to be easily remembered by customers and potential new customers. That is why it is important in starting your mobile marketing that you choose your short code marketing reseller wisely.

iphone01 20110817095626 00022 300x180 Short Code Marketing Reseller AvidMobileSo why not have one short code for everyone to use that will be easily remembered, right? Wrong, short codes are unique to each operator at the technological level and would cause overlap. Don’t get me wrong there are shared short codes that multiple business use. The key is keywords. Each short code has available keywords. For example, you are a pizza shop and you want the keyword “pizza” on the short code 72727. No one else on that same short code would be able to use that exact keyword, but you. That is why short code marketing resellers usually have multiple short codes that can be used. The consumer would need to text the particular short code with the particular keyword to get what they are wanting to sign-up for from the business they are wanting the information from.

Another question you might have is why doesn’t every business just have their own dedicated short code? Having your own dedicated short code takes time to get provisioned and can cost a lot of money for the local pizza shop, so it may not be worth it for one individual small business. So it is important to pick a short code marketing reseller with multiple shared short codes and the ability to setup your own dedicated short code, if you so desire.

SMS Mobile Coupons

SMS Mobile Coupons

Utilizing mobile solutions doesn’t mean abandoning tried and true methods that are proven to drive your business … in most ways, the solutions can be faster, more economical ways of delivering new ways of promoting your value to your customers in ways that you know brings them through the door … SMS Mobile Coupons is just one excellent example.

mobile couponing regis SMS Mobile Coupons AvidMobile

If you’ve printed coupons before, I’m sure you’ve gritted your teeth at the eventual invoice for such a service, not to mention the work doing graphic design and layout, or paying a costly contract to have that service provided for you. What AvidMobile allows you to accomplish with SMS Mobile Coupons is bypassing all the irritating steps of the process of delivering coupons … printing, preparing, mailing, and turn it into an easy process that won’t pay dividends in a month … but instead more like minutes. No more bulk mail process delivery, no more postage.

In addition, you overcome the obstacles that come with sending coupons in the mail … there’s little chance of an SMS Mobile Coupon, easily obtained over their phone, getting caught up and thrown out as clutter. In fact, you’ve put it right into their pocket for them to use, and saved money to boot. But there are more advantages to SMS Mobile Coupons than just ease of printing and sending and the economic benefits of such a delivery method. They are also much easier to use for your customers (and therefore more likely to bring you their business) and much easier for you to redeem.

Tracking a redemption rate on a traditional coupon can be a total nightmare, as you know. Each individual coupon, either printed with a bar code or a serial number, scanned in at a POS, then compared to a mailing database … not to mention the hassle of giant piles of paper brought back into your store. On an SMS Mobile Coupon, the ownership is already established with the mobile number you’ve delivered it to for you, helping you understand what your leads are looking for, and how to most effectively deliver it to them.

So in short, if what you want out of your business is less clutter, less busywork, less expense, and more effective coupon campaigns … AvidMobile and SMS Mobile Coupons have you well covered.

The Importance of Typography in your Mobile Marketing Website

It’s safe to say that at this juncture in the world of business and marketing that most of us realize the importance of having a website to promote our company and brand. By utilizing the internet as a tool for marketing and advertising as a tool to reach more potential customers, but also what your company website shows the world about what your company has to offer is practically imperative in our world of short lived attention spans. Often times, the first impression a potential client or customer may see of your business may very well be your website. That being said, knowing that most users who visit a website on average may only be on the website for a few minutes tops (unless they are encouraged to view more of the site, which relies on a variety of factors,) it’s not only important to have a mind-blowing online visual presence, it’s vital to your business, and your brand as a whole.

Today I want to discuss one aspect that will either make or break your company website: Typography. Typography refers to the ease and readability of the content on your website, as well as the straightforwardness of navigation.

Here are a few basics to make sure that your potential clients can read the message you’re trying to portray.

Limited Number of Fonts

This is something of a no-brainer in the design world, but in reality, there are many offenders. With the immense amount of font faces available these days, especially now with the ability to utilize Google Web Fonts on a website, it’s easy to go a little crazy. That doesn’t mean you should. Three is the basic max number for font faces used in one website. When it comes to novelty font faces, I would say one at the most.

Line Height and Spacing

Line height and spacing are critical in making your company website easy to read for your website visitors. While this may be something largely unnoticed, trust me that it will be noticeable when done incorrectly. If the line spacing between sentences is too tight, the text will become hard to read and thus, legibility is greatly influenced. Make sure to give your copy enough room to breathe, or else you may lose out on potential clients. No one wants to try to decode a homepage message. They simply won’t, and will look elsewhere.

Use of Color

Color utilization is one of the most important factors in not only typography, but design as a whole. Thought largely unnoticeable to the average consumer, the color choices used in any given design greatly impact the potential customers reaction to the product, whether that be a bag of chips or a website. I can’t say enough about how important color is to the overall design of your company product. Color affects our senses in different ways, and while largely subliminal, it’s importance should not be overlooked.

SMS White Label Platform: How It Works!

Avid header2 SMS White Label Platform: How It Works! AvidMobile

Are you looking for a great low-barrier online industry to get into? Many Americans have the dream of working from home on their computers and enjoying greater schedule flexibility. Text message marketing is a great industry to pursue — whether you are a mother, a retiree, a disabled person, a college student, or an entrepreneur looking to diversify and make a little extra cash. It’s easy to learn, cheap to begin, and in high-demand for every business!

What Is SMS White Label Platform?

7eleven SMS White Label Platform: How It Works! AvidMobile“SMS” stands for “Short Message Service.” In other words, it’s a text message that arrives on a mobile phone! A “platform” refers to the software you’ll use to create a business text message. Sure, people can just send and receive messages from their mobile phones, but imagine trying to mass market to hundreds of subscribers that way?? Clearly, there must be a better way. Best of all, YOU can provide that way for other business owners!

“White label” is a term used to describe a type of behind-the-scenes B2B service. Think about when you go to a grocery store and see the store’s brand name products on the shelves. You are not buying products from that store’s food fields and food production facilities. In reality, the supermarket chain paid another company for the rights to put their own label on the product.

Both companies end up churning a profit in the end and it’s really a win-win situation if you think about it. It’s much cheaper for the supermarket to work with another company that already has the infrastructure in place. It’s also much more profitable for the company to work with a supermarket that already has the consumer base.

AvidMobile Has The Mobile Marketing Platform…

Developing software to conduct mobile marketing on a large scale is hard work… and expensive! We paid a team of expert developers thousands of dollars to be one of the first online companies offering this service. We also spent years cultivating positive relationships with telecommunications companies to get sweet baby deals on bulk messaging. This makes your business MUCH easier to set up — not to mention quicker and cheaper.

Do You Have The Desire To Make Cash Online?

All you would need to do is pay a nominal monthly fee for access to our software. You can brand the platform and service as 100% YOUR OWN. We don’t mind at all! You would then create a website advertising your mobile marketing services to customers. You can charge however much you want. Of course, we are more than happy to guide you. In fact, we offer more than 40 hours of training videos to show you how to create more effective mobile marketing promotions. We want your business to be an instant smash success, so you will keep putting our platform to good use.

An Introduction To SMS Shortcodes

SMS shortcodes An Introduction To SMS Shortcodes AvidMobile

It’s safe to say you’ve heard about the use of SMS shortcodes in marketing before. The only exception would be if you’ve had your head in the sand like an ostrich for the past decade! Here at AvidMobile, we were mobile marketing long before the shortcode came on the scene, but now that it’s here, we see it as a valuable part of the business. Here is a brief introduction of text marketing and what you need to know before getting started.

Dedicated or Shared?

There are two kinds of shortcodes for SMS: dedicated and shared. Dedicated codes are custom-made just for you, but they take longer to set up (about 2 months). This might cost you $15,000 to $30,000 per year. For all your promotions, you could say, “Text us at XXXXX!” On the other hand, a shared shortcode may be used by more than one company, but routes traffic based on keywords. This is a quick and economical way to get started mobile marketing. In this case, you might run one promotion saying, “Text FITNESS to XXXXX” and another promotion saying “Text NUTRITION to XXXXX.”

Vanity Codes: The Price of Pretty

Some people like to select vanity codes that are hand-picked based on numbers that spell out a word. For example, you might have the code “27753″ to spell out APPLE if you are a local apple orchard running a mobile marketing campaign. Or you might use the code “74275″ to spell out SHARK if you run a cage diving company. Facebook, for example, uses the code FBOOK (32665). Vanity codes cost around $1,000 per month to register (compared to random codes that cost at least half that); but some people feel it’s worth it to have a code that is memorable.

Registration — And Then What?

Registration is the first part of the short code process. Aggregator companies (like AvidMobile) are the quickest and easiest way to get a code registered. Many moons ago, we cultivated close relationships with all the mobile carriers (so you won’t have to!) If you were to try to get distribution on your own, it would take a lot of time, money and aggravation.

How To Share Nicely

AvidMobile is a great friend and business partner to have if you’re considering working with SMS shortcodesWe’ll give you advice and suggestions for creating a more successful mobile campaign, should you inquire. We give you — not just one, but TWO — mobile shortcodes, so if someone else is spamming on a shared code, your promo won’t get shut down as well.

The Rules of the Code

That’s the dog-eat-dog world of text marketing, after all… a carrier can shut you down at any time if you don’t play by the rules! There are several restrictions for your campaigns. You cannot distribute political marketing, religious literature, pornography, escort ads, gambling ads, hate speech, or alcohol / drug promotions. Also, all subscribers should be able to text back STOP to cease communications with you.

If you’re interested in AvidMobile text marketing, we’d love to hear from you! Call 1-877-511-MOBI today!
